Truth be told, Day three has been almost as hard as day one. Every fiber of my being wants to throw in the towel and quit. All I see in my future is days on end of saying every 15 minutes, "No more diapers Callie. You are a big girl and big girls go pee pee and poo poo in the potty. You tell Mommy when the pee pee or poo poo is coming." In addition, I can't leave her alone. I am so afraid I'll miss her in action and miss an opportunity. I am weary..... so very very weary. Jim has been busy helping a friend so I have been on my own A LOT, but truth be told, she goes better for me than him really. It seems like it takes an hour of talking and coaxing for every success in the potty. Whose crazy idea was this anyway?
It is funny that I am writing these posts since I am not actually publishing them yet anyway (guess if you are reading this I decided to post it), but I think it is some sort of therapy for me. It is amazing the opinions people give you when you tell them. Today at church Kyle and Conner announced to several people that Callie is learning to go potty and she gets two pieces of candy each time she goes. It is amazing how many opinions you get. My favorite are those who think I am the over anxious mom pressing my not ready daughter into this. Do they not think that I have already given this way too much thought as it is? The girl is very interested and in the last two days has only had one accident (if you don't count going potty while sleeping). I think she is probably ready. I am the one who is NOT ready!
I had to work this morning which meant that Callie had to try to do the potty with Daddy. We woke up her early in attempt to catch her before she went in her diaper (thinking she goes when she wakes up), but found her diaper to already be wet. Not too much, but enough to know she does go in her sleep. That is totally ok, but good to know. Anyway, I left for work and she was left with Daddy. She did have one accident about about 10:30. Jim thought she was a little nervous going potty with Daddy since all her potty has been with Mommy up to this point. She wasn't too happy about the potty mess so that is a good thing as well.
Then about noon, while Jim was vaccuming the floor, she sat down on her pottie and had a successful time. Way to go big girl! While we are trying to keep her home and as close to the potty as possible, she definitely needed a haircut. With her birthday coming, I wanted to have a professional cut so she put on some plastic pants over her underwear and went with Daddy for a hair cut. She stayed dry for the trip.
She was so tired by nap time that I laid her down in the undie with plastic cover. She, of course, had quite an accident in bed. She did, however, after supper while watching super why go pee pee again so that is great.
I do find it funny that I feel so overwhelmed by this and want to throw in the towel, but we have actually had amazing success on our potty training journey so far. Tonight proved that. Callie told us all day long that the poopoo was coming, she would run to the potty and sit for a second and then say no poo poo. She was obviously uncomfortable. I started feeling panicky that she was holding it and thinking of all the issues this could cause (hmmm the experience with kyle clouding my vision huh?). However, this evening she suddenly said to me, I want candy. I calmly replied, if you go pee pee or poo poo, I will give you candy. A few minutes later, I see her run into the bathroom, sit down and she pooed! Oh my goodness! I couldn't believe it!!! We had candy and shared a scratch cupcake to celebrate.
Of course, we got a little caught up in the excitement and proceed to have an accident, but poo in the potty was epic so I didn't much care!
