Potty Training Day Two

Well, the fact that I did not sleep well last night is a good sign that I find this whole potty training thing stressful.  Luckily Jim could tell that I was a bit out of sorts so even though he was going to leave early to work on a friend's house, he stayed home long enough for me to go to Target.

The fact that I was shopping for potty supplies like underwear, training pants, pull-ups (for emergency like situations), and some plastic pants for when we go out didn't even diminish my joy of being out of the house and free from potty training for 40 minutes.  I was positively joyful at my freedom.

Callie's diaper was wet and stinky this morning but there were no accidents before I left so that was good I guess. I returned home to a little girl who hadn't gone potty for almost two hours so we took the potty and headed to clean my bathroom.  To my great joy, Callie announced she needed to go potty, sat down and did a couple of dribbles, and started to cheer. I said why don't you sit down and make more potty. She sat down and did her business. I got the boys, we did a potty dance and had candy. She was more than delighted about all of this!

Now Callie likes underwear like shoes.  This means that I every time I turn around she is in her dresser getting a different pair. On and off they go... Most of the time, though, she just runs around with her bottom bare.  This is good and bad.  If she goes potty, there are no restraints to getting her on the potty quick, but she also doesn't get the feel of wet panties when she just goes on the floor.

The other amusing and frustrating thing is that Callie's cries wolf. She loves this potty thing so she randomly announces she has to go potty.  Although, most of the time she does not really have to go.  So you don't know when she really means it. We have only had three successful potties so I haven't quite picked up on the cues when she is really going.

I don't think she knows how to make herself go as of yet, she is still just in the catch it in the act stage so we will see if that will really work.  I see progress, though, so onward we trudge through this.

We had a soccer game this afternoon and Calllie managed to stay dry all through driving to Jesup, watching the soccer game and then home. When we got home she was tired, but it had been 5 hours since the last potty so we sat down by the potty. I held her and told her that when she felt hte potty coming to let me know.  Then a few minutes later she said Potty is coming Mommy! She sat down and pottied! WOO HOO!  Daddy was here so he got to do the potty dance with us.

She is tucked in for a nap with a pull-up on, but I am beyond shocked that she is doing so well with this.
