A heavy but thankful heart

It has been an interesting few weeks for us. Things in the Trunnell household are pretty peaceful for once (except when Mommy gets all crazy about the "crap" all over and goes a little psycho on everyone but that is a different post), but for our small group and closest friends trials and hard times abound.

My heart aches as those I love hurt. One set of friends are walking their mom (mother in law) through a terrible disease and having to make very difficult decisions. Another set of friends face a possible illness or medical situation in regards to one of their children that is unsettling. Yet another set of friends has been betrayed by a friend they thought would be loyal.

So my heart is sad and heavy, but I am incredibly grateful tonight. I am not grateful that those I love are walking through these days, but I am grateful that God has brought us together so that as we walk, all of us can walk it together. I am grateful that we can together get on our knees and pray for healing, pray for wisdom, pray for peace, and acknowledge to the God of the universe that this life hurts. I am grateful because I know if and when my peaceful existence changes that these same people will hold my hand and walk the path with me.

In the midst of pain, we have been blessed in an unexpected way. We are not alone and for that I am grateful.
