A Fun Day in Des Moines

I forgot to mention in my blog post that we got upgraded at our hotel to a two bedroom suite so that was really nice for sleeping. After sleeping in a little and enjoying a wonderful breakfast, we went swimming and then took the kids to DM Science Center. Residence Inn has most definitely the best free hotel breakfast around!

I started to not feel good on Saturday, but it was still a very fun day. We laughed because the boys made and shot off rockets, made and raced lego cars, watched a demonstration on fire and explosions, watched about outer space in the planetarium, and saw a real mummy. Can there be a better boy day ever? HA!

This was fun. From right to left, Kyle, Conner, Callie on the bottom and Daddy's head up top!
In the little tot area, they had this place with hug bubble wands. Callie thought this was pretty cool!
She also loved this exhibit, but eventually fell off the stool in her excitement and sliced her head open on the edge of it. Poor thing had quite a bump and scratch her head.
Kyle riding a camel in the Lost Eygpt exhibit. This was actually much more interesting than I thought. I think what helped was that Kyle and I had both read the Kane Chronicles which pretends that ancient egyptian gods and beliefs are real (its fiction), but anyway because we had heard of some of the stuff, seeing the archifacts and history was more interesting.
Conner on the camel!
Here is the area where they made paper rockets and shot them off. It was a really enjoyable afternoon for all of us (less for me since I was so achy and just wanted a nap) and a nice break from the normal routine.
Before we went to the science center, we took the kids swimming. They all thoroughly enjoyed this. We couldn't seem to capture Callie's glee in most of the pictures, but fun was had by all. Here are a few pictures.
Since she had a little floatation device on, we let her swim around with the boys. She thought this was great fun. Kyle is so good about helping her and playing with her. No wonder one of her favorite words is Kyle, Kyle, Kyle!!!
Someone gave us this little swim suit and it is just so cute, especially the little ruffles on her bum.
Daddy and Kyle always have a lot of fun especially jumping off Daddy's shoulders!
So cute floating around the pool. She loved this little intertube!
Anyway, it was just an overnight, but we finished up the weekend watching the broncos play off game with some pizza. That was a nail biter. Jim and I almost couldn't watch. It could've gone either way! Not sure we'll be so lucky next week, but fun to see Tebow improve in spite of his critics. I tend to like an underdog story and since so many people want him to fail, it makes you want him and his team succeed even more. He sets a good example for my boys about perspective and that loving God is more important than football and winning. That's always nice too!
