Healthy again..we hope!

Callie seems back to her sweet little self (well sometimes she isn't all that sweet, but most of the time) and I am feeling better too. It was kind of sad for me to feel like we missed another week of summer.

I know we had an awesome vacation, but somehow we have missed most of the fun summer things we usually do. Some of it is Jim's busyness with his new job, some changes with my job (all good stuff!), and the age of Callie making it a little harder to do stuff! Of course, this week of sickness didn't help either.

So I am suddenly looking at my bucket list for the summer and I am sad. School starts in two weeks and we haven't been to the pool, gone bike riding, had a picinic, gone to four queens for ice cream, and the list continues. We have had a couple fun weekend river trips and enjoyed strugis falls, but somehow we missed everything else that I associate with summer. So I am trying to make the last two weeks count as much as I can.

A dear friend of mine invited us to go for free bowling today. I have been a little hesitant to bowl since it reminds me of my dad, but it was o.k. I wish my Dad was here to coach Kyle in his bowling because he is old enough now that they could have that moment. Not that he has to be some great bowler but just because I want him and my Dad to have that experience. Grandpa passing along a skill that he was REALLY good at and because it would've been so fun for the both of them. Instead, I will share the few tips that my dad passed along to me (I so did not inherit his skill) and say this is what Grandpa used to tell me. I do have some bowling badges that my dad won in tournaments (one for each kid) and I will someday put them along with a hat of grandpas and a picture of them with grandpa in a shadow box for them. Hard to believe he's been gone 7 months. Seems like a long time, but in other ways, it hasn't been very long at all. I am reminded more recently because in our normal routine, we would say, we haven't seen Dad in awhile, lets plan a time to go see him.

After bowling, my friend's children and mine did not want to be separated so we had lunch at mcdonalds and played at the park. Honestly, I didn't really want to stop hanging with my friend either! It was good to hang out and do something that is summer fun. We plan to do something next wednesday too. Normally I work a half day on wednesday, but this week I have to work extra saturday and next week work all day friday so I am taking these half days with my boys.

Friday we are hoping to do the pool, maybe a picinic the next week and four queens over the weekend! Not sure on the bike ride, but if I can fit it in.. I will...
