August Update

Wow! I know it has been a long time since I updated. The honest truth is that I have just been overwhelmed trying to keep up with life and try to enjoy even a little bit of the end of summer with my kids. I don't really feel like I get ahead, but like every day I get a little bit farther behind. Here is a quick update to let you know what we've been up to. There is more than this, but honestly I can't even remember what else we've been up to.
  • We reorganized offices at church so I have a new office mate. We have been trying to fit in a little time to decorate the space and make it more personal (why when we both feel swamped, we thought this was a good idea..I can not explain).
  • Jim is getting ready to go to Tall Corn (his annual off roading event) next weekend so he has been working on getting his truck ready. He lifted it and is now building a new bumper to hold his winch.
  • Works has been very busy for both Jim and I. Just a lot of extra stuff going on. Lots of meetings and extra commitments for both of us. Trying to balance that in the summer with kids at home more has been interesting.
  • We registered the boys for school. First and Fourth (how did that happen?). We also did the annual school shopping trip.
  • We have finally gotten our yard put back together after the egress windows a year and half ago. Geez. Now we need to weed/feed and plant grass seed.
  • I attended the Willow Creek Leadership Summit. It was really good.
  • Just trying to keep the house clean and spend some time with my children before they go to school on Thursday.

Here are some pictures of a little of the fun that we tried to fit into the schedule in the last few weeks.

Mike and Denise Gowen invited us out for an afternoon of waterskiing. It was rather cool and even rained a little bit, but didn't stop the fun!

Jim and Grant, our nephew, went wakeboarding together. Jim loves to wakeboard, but it usually throws his back out and causes several trips to the chiropractor. (He was there today and he didn't really have time so not sure how wise that was!)
They did several high fives for us, but we didn't catch one.
Here are they are waving as they went by the dock!
Kyle has really taken to waterskiing. This really adds a new dynamic to the fun!!!
He made a few turns and almost got over the wake (he will have to keep working on that one!!!)
He did get brave enough to let go and wave at us. We missed that picture, but here he is at the tailend of the wave!
Thursday is the first day of school and my father-in-law's 60th birthday. We took some time out on Sunday afternoon to celebrate him!!!!

Lots of thoughtful and funny gifts were given. It was a great time by all. My mother in law catered in Famous Daves. Happy Birthday Grandpa!!!!
