For the past four years, the girls in Jim's family have gotten together to bake Christmas cookies on the day after Thanksgiving. It is quite the production. I believe the count on cookies was something like 145 dozen (yes I am not kidding).
I haven't really gotten to enjoy it since the first year. Two years ago, I was pregnant with Callie and in the midst of the horrible morning sickness. Last year, we were in San Diego over thanksgiving and this year I was fighting some bad back pain. Luckily I have a friend for a chiropractor and she came in on her day off to try to help relieve the pain. I have seen her a couple more times and have seen some definite improvement in my back, but we aren't 100% yet.

Since we had thankgiving at supper time rather than lunch this year, my sister in law and mother in law mixed up all of the cookie dough the morning of thanksgiving. That way on Friday all we had to do was bake (trust me this is a lot even with three ovens!).

Here are two of my sister-in-laws and nieces on baking day!

Here is another sister in law. I am missing our friend Suzy. I thought I uploaded that picture, but must have missed it. Since I have been sick all weekend and am way behind, you'll have to look for her in the group photo!

This is how I did the few cookies I did. Sitting and nursing my back!

Jim helped out after work in my absence by doing dishes! And maybe imitating the hu hot guys??? I am posting this because he is cute! :)

A few of the younger kids helped out dipping cake balls and oreo truffles (and unwrapping candy for the reeses cups!)

We had tons of close up shots, but I am short on time!!!

We rarely seem to take pictures of my in-laws so thought I'd share this one!

Here is the group photo (minus me..I just got back from the chriopractor and was in the process of ice my back so I told them to take it without me). Look at all those cookies!!! Besides, they did all of the work really so they should get the credit! Luckily they don't hold it against me, I still have lots of yummy cookies in my freezer.

Once we got it all packaged up (we split equally between all six families) I was done icing my back, so we took one more group photo!
The first year we decorated sugar cookies, but after seeing how time consuming that was, we switched gears and just bake the cookies. We send them home for each family to decorate when it is convenient for them!
It is a fun way to start the Christmas season. Good thing we got our back friday deals early so I really would've been a mess without sleep and a very sore back huh?
