Food Bank

This is past weekend, we took the boys down to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank to serve. It was such a great experience for us. I was so proud of how hard they worked. There were a lot of kids, but it was amazing how much work they got done.

We started by sorting supplies for Thanksgiving meals into bags.

Conner did such a great job partnering with me to fill his. Kyle was old enough to do his bags himself and did two or three at a time. Most of the kids were younger than than Kyle.

After we finished that. We emptied pallets of food, marked off the upc symbol, and then loaded it all back up. You wouldn't believe how fast those kids worked. It was all we adults could do to keep boxes of food available for the kids to mark.

We did seven pallets full of food. The kids thought it was so great. Hopefully they learned a little more that life isn't all about them as well. We looked forward to doing it again and hope to find other opportunities to broaden their horizons as well!
