Back to School 2011

My boys were troopers through the ordeal of the past week. Even when I had to confess that I messed up and missed backpack night, they stayed pretty positive about things. I told them we would go have a back to school morning (by going early to see their desks etc).

Luckily neither was starting at a new school or anything that was high anxiety. Both were excited about their teachers. They are both new to us unlike last year where we knew the kindergarden teacher already.

Daddy missed the back to school stuff, but the boys seemed o.k. with that as well.

Our traditional back to school picture on the first day of school. We took goofy pictures too, but I am still wore out from the stress of last week so I am going to skip posting those!
Kyle and his backpack. Interestingly enough neither boy chose a character backpack this year...
They got these new shirts a couple of weeks ago (because they are little obsessed with pirates of the carribean) and decided they wanted to match on the first day of school. I am thinking that years of them deciding to do things like that are quickly fading!
Callie, of course, wanted to be right in the middle of the action!!!!

Here is Kyle in his classroom. I am still in shock over the idea that I have a fourth grader!
Here is Kyle and his teacher Ms. Hewett. All of the moms I talked to said this is the fourth grade teacher you really want so hoping it is great year for Kyle. He seems pretty happy already, but then he got most of his buddies in his class so thinking that was more important than which teacher!!!!
Here is Conner in his first grade desk. He was a little more hesitant on the first day, but it helped that he knew a few of the kids in his class. There are three sections of first graders so he isn't as familiar as Kyle would be with only two sections (and 4 years of school together already). He did find one little friend so that seemed to help. His favorite buddy wasn't in his class, but we are thinking that might be a good thing!
Here is Conner and Mrs. Watters. Kyle did not have her in first grade, but Conner is pretty agreeable and we have heard wonderful things about her so thinking it should be a great fit as well!!!!
They also did well with other people besides Mommy meeting the bus for the first couple of days of school.
I can't express how thankful I was to have friends and family come to my aid this past week. It was so hard to figure out and plan since you never knew when he might go home, a doctor might come, and what not. One of the hardest things in those situations too is telling people what you need. Since you don't know what each day will hold, it is hard to know what you will need! I am decided that the day after one comes from the hospital after a long week is the perfect time to have someone bring supper. I will remember that when others face these circumstances!
