A Little Break!

I know.. I know.. for the one who loves people to update their facebook and blogs because I love to know what people are doing and thinking, I didn't post for over a week.

Christmas Break was just not what I expected this year. First, I missed the first few days by being completely caught up in my food poisoning saga. Then between Christmas Eve services, a busy Christmas day, and working on Tyler's house, Christmas break for Jim was just gone.

The Monday after Christmas Jim returned to work and the melancoly set in for me. I missed him so much. Originally we planned for him to only work on Tuesday of that week so we had two really long breaks, but with the expected arrival of Tatertot this year it seemed practical and wise to bank a couple of extra days for next year. I must confess, though, that on Monday I was tired of doing the responsible thing all of the time. I just wanted my husband HOME and I wanted to do fun frivilous family things.... No more working around the clock on houses, no more trying desperately to keep up with home and church. No more watching the budget etc. Probably a good thing I didn't blog that day huh???

Tuesday was not any better to be honest with you. Wednesday, though, things turned around. I knew Jim would be home a little early from work and then home for 4 days. I didn't completely throw responsibility out the window, but we did eat out, spend some time with friends, play some video games, went furniture shopping (just window shopping for the basement someday in the not near future), read a couple of books, and had an anniversary date along with some responsible work at Tylers and putting away Christmas decorations. I am very happy to say that the end of the break made up for the crummy (selfish) way that I felt during the first part of the break.

Jim catered very much to my little vacation schedule and was super kind to me by happily shopping for all the things I wanted to look at and helping with home stuff. Happily helping me purchase some new tennis shoes with my kohls cash I had. Going out to eat where I wanted to for the days and being his usually fun self. Today was much easier for me and not nearly as sad as last Monday after a great long weekend.

Sunday was our 13th wedding anniversary. It is hard to believe it has been that long. On the previous Friday, we celebrating by going to see Sherlock Holmes and then eating with a gift card at Applebees. The boys were happy to have their current favorite babysitter over! Sunday, we didn't even do cards, flowers or anything. We both were just happy to spend the day together and it was a fun relaxing day. We did splurge on pizza for supper but that is it. By the way, Dominos totally redid their pizza and in our opinion it is much better than what we ever remember. We ordered it after seeing the commercial just to try it!

This morning the boys went to school and I went to church to move things around for the next phase of the remodel project. It is coming along nicely and will make for a very busy month in January!
