After arriving at the campground, the first place we went to see was Mount Rushmore. I really thought this would not be of that great of interest to the boys, but they loved this. We spent a solid two hours here.
Here we are when we first entered. We ran into another family from Iowa so we took each other's family photos!
It was just so cool for the boys to see it in person. Then we went to the visitor center and got Junior Ranger books. This was great too because the boys were looking for answers to questions as we went and did everything. They REALLY enjoyed this and it helped them learn a lot.
They had a nice introductory video of how they made Mount Rushmore and why the chose the presidents they did etc. The boys enjoyed that too. I am pretty sure it is because they were so fascinated by the fact that they used dynamite.
We thought this was funny. Look Elmo is at Mount Rushmore! Another super funny thing was that our camera will ask you after you take a picture if it thinks someone blinked? Everytime I took a picture of Mount Rushmore, the camera would highlight one of the heads and ask me if it blinked.. We also laughed a lot because Callie called Mount Rushmore "the Heads." Considering we pretty drove my Mount Rushmore every day, it was pretty funny. There are the heads! Hi Heads! Bye Heads!
Being like George..
Now Conner is George.
When you finsihed your booklet, the park ranger would quiz you, check your booklet and then swear you in as junior ranger, and give you a badge. (We bought the junior ranger hats for the boys). Callie is saying, "I A Ranger."
