The internet and phone service is spotty at the campground, but this morning I discovered if you wake up at 6:15 (7:15 central time), the internet is pretty good. I think that is because everyone else is asleep LOL!!!
We got to our campground about 3:30 yesterday and were immedaitely delighted by the service and how pretty it was. Of course, that came to a brief halt when we realized that something not good happened to the minivan when we were towing it out. When we took it off the car dolly, the back wheels were sticking and making this HORRIBLE grinding noise. We found a repair shop still open, paid a hefty towing fee, and our minivan is now at the shop awaiting someone to look at it Monday morning. The guy came highly recommended so well hope for the best.
Sounds like something went wrong with Anti-lock break system causing the tires to try to lock up while being forced to move forward. No idea how long or when this happened. UGH!!! Once we got the car towed, yelled at the kids out of frustration, and had supper. We decided that we could be irritated and frustrated OR we could make the most of our situation. We opt to attempt the latter.
Here are some pictures of our campground:
This is a cute shopping area out by the lodge and their ponderosa restaurant (that look similiar to this). This has an ice cream/pizza shop luandry, coffee shop and a stable in it. Behind it is one of the two pools here.
Oh and at the end of it are the horse stables. You have to pay to ride horses, but you can pet and see the horses for free!
There is this little pond that you can rent paddle boats for or fish if you want. There are also lots of scenic trails around. We tried one last night that was neat.
There is this waterslide that the boys are pretty excited about. After 100 degree days, it was only 68 here when we arrived so we are waiting for a warmer day for this particular activity.
There is this great Jumping Pillow in one place (plus can you see the awesome playground equipment behind it). There are two other play areas, but this is the best by far. We do have some play horses and a set of swing almost right outside our camper door!
Kids having fun playing last night!
This is is what the scenery is like all around the campground. Lovely huh???
Ther are two pools like this with hot tubs!
They have lots of little amenities like this roasted corn stand, ice cream stands, other snack stands, two concession/gift shops, and jumpig inflatables that are up every other day.
The boys thought this was cool.
In addition to the pool, there is a splash pad!
Oh and there is minature golf too. Callie was just hilarious about this. She would hit it a couple of times and then pick up her ball, put it in the hole and jump and cheer!!! LOL
We were able to rent a car for today right at the campground. It is pricey, but already has the parking tags for mount rushmore and custer state park. So when you take the cost of parking which we were going to do anyway off the rental car. It is only an extra 30 for today. Plus we can still do what we were planning to.
So today, we are going to mount rushmore and driving a scenic route through Custer state park. We will pack a picnic lunch and enjoy. We didn't want to wait til MOnday to do stuff since we are only here five days.
Hopefully they can get our van fixed on Monday, hopefully it won't cost a fortunate, and hopefully we will able to tow it back o.k. If not, we will deal with what comes our way being thankful that we are ALL healthy and safe. A car is replaceable and fixable. We just might be eating beans and rice for awhile at home. LOL LOL LOL
I am off to make breakfast and pack lunch for our fun day!
