Our family has done pretty well this year in regards to sickness atleast compared to last year but we did have a round of colds hit us at Easter. Kyle and Conner both had a nasty cough, but rebounded pretty quickly. Callie ran a fever for three days and then stopped on the night before Easter.
Easter afternoon at Grandma's house, Callie was napping in grandma's room. We noticed her cough had gotten worse. We didn't realize how bad until she coughed so forcefully that she threw up at Grandmas. We came home and it continued to get worse. As we tucked Callie into bed that night, we noticed her fever was back.
The next morning, her fever was higher like 102, her cough was awful (you had to run everytime she coughed in case it made her vomit), and I noticed that her breathing was a little raspy. So we got the boys off to school and Callie and I headed over to urgent care. They were so helpful. They thought her cold had settled in chest and caused a bacterial infection so we got some antibotics, some steriods, and breathing treatments. Wow, what a difference 24 hours on the medicine made.
As Callie started to feel better, Jim got hit with it. He did most of the care taking while she was sick. He missed a day of work (wed morn and thursday afternoon), but by Friday while still tired was feeling a lot better.
I was shocked that I had managed to be the only one not get it, but that shock came too soon. Thursday afternoon/evening I was just so tired. I went to bed super early and woke up Friday morning with a sore throat. Then Saturday I woke up with a slight fever. Today, I am feeling a little better and the fever seems to be gone, but I am still so tired (im headed for a nap even though I slept til 9 this morning) and my throat while better than yesterday still doesn't feel all that hot.
The up side to all of this was that I was sick over the weekend so Jim was around to help with kids and I could just rest. Secondly, I happened to not have to work this weekend so I could skip church without any stress because it was all taken care of.
I am missing my nephew's first birthday party this afternoon, but I don't want to share these germs. Plus I wasn't sure if I had enough energy yet to manage. :( Luckily, I had already shopped and a present all ready to go and Jim and the kids are healthy enough to attend.
So today, I am updating my blog, cleaning out my email, and working on a photo book of KYle at age 9. Well, atleast that is what I have been doing since lunch...now I am think since it is so quiet that I am going to go take a nap!
